SERDANG, September 3: A delegation from Australia has paid a courtesy visit to Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) as part of the mobility initiative of the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MoHE) in 2022 to support inbound and outbound mobility programmes.
The initiative is in line with the Malaysian government's goal to establish the country as an international higher education hub with an estimated 250,000 international students by 2025, as outlined in the Malaysia Education Development Plan 2015–2025 (Higher Education).
YH. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman said the Australian government had initiated the New Colombo Plan (NCP) to support inbound and outbound mobility programmes.
"We invite all delegates with us today to show their support for the New Colombo Plan together with UPM, especially for this programme.

"At UPM, we offer a variety of mobility programmes, both short-term to long-term, including semester exchange programmes, summer programmes and tailored programmes," he said in his speech yesterday at the first series of the Australian higher education institution visit to Malaysia 2022.
The first series of the Australian higher education institution visit to Malaysia 2022 is organised by the Committee of International Directors in Malaysian Public Universities (JKPA) and hosted by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), Education Malaysia Australia (EMA), and six other public universities.
Also present at the ceremony were UPM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr. Ismi Arif Ismail, Director of the Putra International Centre (I-PUTRA), Prof. Dr. Suhaimi Ab. Rahman, and delegates from the Australian university, Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) and Education Malaysia Division. - UPM
