UPM aims to establish UPM Chair at United Kingdom Commonwealth Secretariat and University of London through joint LoI

LONDON, Feb 7 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), in collaboration with the United Kingdom Commonwealth Secretariat and the University of London, is all set to establish a UPM Chair that will house UPM scholars at the institution through a letter of intent (LoI) signed together yesterday in the United Kingdom.

This initiative aimed to align programmes, including joint research activities, academic programme offer as well as student and staff mobility among UPM, the United Kingdom Commonwealth Secretariat and the University of London.

The LoI was signed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), YBhg. Prof. Dr. Ismi Arif Ismail, Head of Social Policy Development of the London Commonwealth Secretariat, Layne Robinson and Pro Vice-Chancellor of Learning and Teaching, University of London, Prof. Mary Stiasny.

Prof. Dr. Ismi Arif Ismail said the LoI would allow strong collaborations in the academic and research fields and contribute to developing and improving relationships between the two parties.

The LoI is one of UPM's efforts to increase collaboration and promotion among prospective students and external government agencies in line with Goal 1 of the UPM Strategic Plan 2021-2025— to produce graduates who are resilient to the challenges ahead through initiatives.

Also present were the Deputy Dean of Research and Innovation from the Faculty of Educational Studies (FPP), UPM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Raba'ah Hamzah, FPP Department of Professional Development and Continuing Education Lecturers, Prof. Dr. Abdul Lateef Abdullah@Steven Eric Krauss and Dr. Siti Nur Martyr Musa. -UPM
