SHAH ALAM, September 3 – A total of 30 students from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) are eligible to receive the PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia initiative in the first phase.
The initiative is one of the government’s efforts to bridge the digital gap by providing a tablet to students from B40 families.
YH. Dato' Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, UPM Vice-Chancellor, thanked the government on behalf of UPM students for allocating funds in Budget 2022 specifically to prepare devices for university students.
“Today, 30 UPM students around the Klang Valley are the tablet beneficiary under the first phase of the PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia initiative.”
“I would like to express my gratitude to the government, and we welcome the PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia initiative,” said YH. Dato' Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman at the launching event of the PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia.
In the first phase of the initiative, 400,000 units of branded and high-quality devices were ordered and distributed to eligible students as part of the PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia initiative.
According to a first-year student of the Bachelor of Counselling with Honours, Shamsul Nur Mazleena Samad, the government's initiative to provide branded tablets to all recipients is helpful to the B40 group.
“Usually, the device is only given once. However, this initiative is great. When the device is damaged or lost for certain reasons, the government will replace it with a new one, she said. – UPM
