Serdang (11 April 2007) – The Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan, H.E. Khydyr Saparliev, said that it would be beneficial if the cooperation and collaboration between UPM and Turkmenistan could be continued with an MoU being materialised. He said that during a work visit from him and the Turkmenistan’s Minister of Education, H.E. Mukhametgeldy Annaamanov today. Among the suggested principals of the memorandum are to send their staff to further their studies in UPM and cooperate on research fields that are related. The UPM Vice Chancellor agreed on the matter and said that the cooperation between both parties would definitely benefit both parties.
UPM received a work visit from Turkmenistan accompanied by four PETRONAS Carigali Sdn. Bhd. staff, among them Tuan Haji Sulaiman Abdullah, the General Manager for PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn. Bhd. and Mr. Batyr Saparmamedov, Malaysia’s Liaison Officer for PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn. Bhd., who acted as an interpreter for the programme.
The visitors were briefed on UPM’s activities, products and services, especially on research activities and innovation, by Prof. Dr. Zulkifli Idrus, the Director for the Research Management Centre. En, Rosdi Wah, the Deputy Registrar, and Prof. Madya Dr. Arfah Salleh, the Dean for the Graduate School Of Management, briefed the visitors on the postgraduate and postgraduate management study programmes whereas the undergraduate study programme was presented by the Academic Division Head, Puan Chek Zan Kasah.
The work visit to Malaysia had started from 7 April 2007 and would end on 13 April 2007. UPM was briefed by the Petronas that the main objective of the work visit was to obtain information regarding issues relating to international learning experiences in educational institutions and the management and content of the Malaysian’s education system.
Besides UPM, the group had also visited the Minister of Higher Learning, Multimedia University and other private schools around the area of Klang Valley and Putrajaya.
The visit was ended with tea and a photo-taking session.
